Queering Neverland or Play Through Peter Pan is a project that I began in my backyard in 2022. Through sixteen devising workshops with twenty-nine community members, we used genderqueer play as a starting point for investigating J.M. Barrie's original text of Peter Pan.

 

Through a pedagogy we co-developed over the course of these play sessions, we excavated queerness, neurodiversity, gender, and the child's gaze from this text. I took videos and notes from these sessions and turned it into a new script throughout 2023.

 

What if true genius and collaboration is only possible within a spirit of play?
